As economics become more challenging, criminals become more creative. When communities work together to build layers of protection for our businesses, schools and homes, we all live better lives.
When events occur, YOU are the eyes and ears of the Garden Grove Police Department. People fail to call the police and suspicious activity goes unreported. Many times this suspicious activity is an indicator of a crime about to happen.
Everyone has the responsibility of keeping our city safe. Don’t assume that someone will call to report the crime or activity in your area. Call your police department immediately about all suspicious activity and do it yourself. Don’t worry about “bothering” us because that is why we are here.
Information most often needed by the Police is:
*What happened
*When
*Where
*Is anyone injured
*Vehicle description
*Direction of travel
*Description of persons(including clothing)
When describing suspects, try to notice age, race, sex, height and weight. Use landmarks like door jams, signs in windows and on walls to measure heights. Pick out unique characteristics you notice that may assist the officers in locating the suspects, (tattoos, body piercing, hair color, teeth, scars and other permanent marks).
If you witness a crime, your first impulse may be to confront the suspect or scream. DO NOT put yourself at risk. Make the call to the police who can help you as soon as possible.
Remember…call 911 for emergencies!
